A remarkable example of Indian textile artistry, this Vintage Tree of Life Rug dates to the 1970s and is meticulously hand stitched in silk and cotton. Against a warm ivory ground, an elegant flowering tree rises through the composition, its branches alive with stylized blossoms, foliage, and birds rendered in beautifully softened shades of blue.

The intricacy of the needlework gives the textile an almost embroidered quality. Delicate botanical details unfold across the field and surrounding border, while the restrained ivory, cream, and blue palette lends the piece a quiet elegance that feels particularly relevant in collected interiors today.

At 4' × 6', its scale allows it to be enjoyed in several ways. Use it traditionally beneath a small reading arrangement, writing desk, or bedside grouping, or display it as a decorative wall textile, where the Tree of Life composition can be appreciated much like a work of art.

Dating from the 1970s and preserved in very good vintage condition, this is not simply a decorative floor covering but a distinctive textile with history, craftsmanship, and presence.

The Bay & Bridle Styling Note

This is an especially beautiful piece for The Coastal Library, where its botanical imagery and softened blues can live alongside books, warm wood, linen upholstery, aged brass, and blue-and-white ceramics. Beneath a reading chair it introduces pattern without heaviness; hung above a console or writing desk, it becomes an unexpected textile artwork with the presence of something collected on travels.

Within The Harbor House, pair it with weathered oak, wicker, ivory linen, faded indigo, and natural woven textures. The combination of birds, branches, and watery blues gives the piece a subtle connection to the landscape without relying on overtly nautical motifs.

Vintage Textile Note: Variations and subtle signs of age are inherent to vintage, handmade textiles and contribute to the individuality and history of each piece.

Part textile, part artwork, and entirely one of a kind—a piece chosen for the kind of home that is collected slowly and kept for years.
